Happy last day of finals, IC! Today we’re bringing you a takeover by Ms. Bridget Strawn, a graduating senior. Many of you may not know her by name, but she’s been helping to run our social media channels since her freshman year. (Fun fact: she did IC’s first ever student Instagram takeover back in ‘13). Bridget hails from Reading, PA, majors in Emerging Media, and measures her coffee consumption in pots not cups. She is taking us through her favorite parts of Ithaca and how they’ve changed over the past four years. Sit back and relax, because this is how Bridget saw IC.” #HowISeeIC
“Goooooood morning, Ithaca! ☀️ I’ve always been a lover of all things breakfast food, and Ithaca has only intensified my love for a good brunch #flatlay. (As IC’s social media intern, you can bet I’m that annoying friend who won’t let you eat until I’ve gotten the perfect photo). My morning eating habits have come quite a long way since the days of trying to sneak out of Terraces Dining Hall with a bagel (or two) in my jacket pocket.”
“I spent the second semester of my sophomore year “studying” at the Ithaca College London Center and gallivanting across Europe with people who would become my best friends. Post grad I’ve been given another opportunity to call Europe home by accepting a position with @adidas at their HQ in Germany! 🇩🇪 Without the experience of Ithaca’s study abroad program I never would have had the guts to take such a risk.”
“What would an Ithaca favorites takeover be without mentioning the people? Freshman year all your new friends live on the same floor, in the same building, or at most a few sets of stairs away. Maintaining these friendships gets harder as people graduate, study abroad, and move away, but those that stick around through the FaceTime calls and time difference text messages are the keepers. 💕”
“Before college I knew nothing about iOS app development and very little about mental health. Fast forward to now, I’ve spent the past year and a half building an app to help users track their mental wellness and practice better self care, called Self Checkout for my capstone. (Shoutout to my incredible team, @evansobkowicz and @belenskii!) You can download it at selfcheckout.me/app”
"Since my freshman year, the Commons have undergone quite the facelift. Up until last year, the walkway was covered in barriers and construction. Nowadays you always can find some sort of “fest” (apple, chili, wizarding, etc.) happening or even an impromptu @cornelluniversity marching band performance."
“There are not many things I’d get out of bed at 2AM for, but @vicradio is one of them. While my first radio shift freshman year was definitely not ideal, I worked my way up to having two of my own specialty shows at much more convenient hours. This semester I hosted “As Heard On TV,” bringing you the best of TV theme songs and soundtracks."
“I was definitely your token @ithacappella #fangirl my freshman year, never missing one of their Emerson Suites shows. 🤦🏼♀️ I still frequent Emerson Suites, but in a much different capacity. A few weeks ago I walked in my fifth and final @hifashionstudios runway show. Getting out of my comfort zone and doing something totally unrelated to my major has been some of the most fun I’ve had in college! 🤘🏻"
